Coming out of the walker hoard damaged but alive, Rick, Carl, Judith, and Michonne enjoy a moment at home living a calm and normal life. Maggie seems to have stepped up to her role as a community organizer, noticing that Enid still seems to struggle connecting with other. While Carl and Enid act like kids and wander outside of the walls as a sign of rebellion, Michonne catches Spencer sneaking out into the woods. Meanwhile, Rick and Daryl go on a run for supplies to help restock Alexandria.

TWD_610_GP_0902_0240-RT-1-1200x794Rick and Daryl’s Very¬†Excellent Adventure:¬†Fans love opportunities for Rick and Daryl to share scenes, given the actors’¬†real life bromance and their characters’ ability to create some havoc. ¬†Their trek out from Alexandria was meant to be a supply run, where Rick kept talking about the Law of Averages. They found a truck, then found a man named Jesus, lost said truck, recovered the truck, and then lost it again. While the back and forth with the truck was a funny chance to let these two characters play around a bit without major threats, it also served as a setup for what appears to be a big new reveal, considering the episode’s title. Alexandria is not alone on an island and Jesus probably will reveal something to that effect in the next episode.

BN-MS155_twd022_G_20160221203951It’s Hard to Say Goodbye:¬†For Spencer and Carl, finding Walker Deanna in the woods meant very different but impactful things. Spencer had been searching for his walker mother for weeks, sneaking off without anyone noticing. Finally coming face to face with her, he had a chance to have some closure. With both of his parents gone and now having laid his mother to rest, he has a chance to start thinking about his future in a similar way that Deanna requested of¬†Michonne.

twd2For Carl, he allowed the Walker Deanna to go on roaming rather than kill her when she creeped up on him and Enid. Michonne caught him and challenged his inability to kill a walker, but he was able to provide a very reasonable answer to her queries. Showing more humanity and emotional intelligence than may be expected from a damaged teenager, Carl’s moment with Michonne was both sweet and slightly creepy since they were talking about death.

TWD_610_GP_0828_0293-RT-1200x794Changing Dynamics:¬†While there was a nice little moment at the start of the episode with Denise trying to get Daryl to help her impress her love interest, Tara, the big reveal was at the end with Rick and Michonne. The hashtag #Richonne is now a thing. It makes some sense with the time they have spent together and how they have naturally grown as a family. Michonne cares for Carl and Judith, and she has respected and felt a solid friendship with Rick for some time now. For those who know the comics, Michonne has stepped in for the role that Andrea filled (as she survived Woodbury and the Governor). The question does come up though…will this be a permanent relationship or a moment of passion which will end up being fleeting?

With the way that the show has mostly followed the comics, the preview for next week gives me some pause. Jesus is about to reveal something huge and the events against the biker gang could spell trouble for Rick’s group in the near future. If you looked closely during that scene, there was a car in the background. Someone saw what Daryl did and they are likely not going to be happy about it.

In Memoriam: Walker Deanna

Question of the Week:¬†Given the challenges with Rick’s previous relationships, does #Richonne stand a chance in this cruel world?
